Earthquake

Earthquake
And the first crack appeared
Salt water poured through
Streaming down apples

Aftershocks
Deepened the grooves
Splintering slowly
Tiny spears jabbing into ribs
Spiking every breath

The ground shook again
I descended into love
But fell through into heartbreak
Picking up each piece
Shielding it from further shattering
Hoping to find cement
To piece it together again.
